Two Decades Later

Two Decades Later

by Rebecca Waddell

Two decades ago

We were under attack

The planes hit

The towers fell

Thousands of people

Didn’t live to tell

The story of how

Our whole world changed

In a few short hours

We as a country were

Shaken to our core

Shocked and afraid

Out of destruction

Out of ashy haze

Rose up the heroes who searched

For anyone they could save

Two decades have passed,

Our duty to never forget

Is more important now

Than it has ever been
